Commercial Property Insurance is one of the main coverages in a Small Business Owners Policy (BOP). It protects the building, the Business Personal Property (BPP), as well as the exterior fixtures such as outdoor signage and fences. Generally, Commercial Property Insurance is part of a Package Policy, but can be offered as a stand alone policy to the property owner.
Business Income and Extra Expense coverage helps replace a business's lost income and cover increased operating costs after a covered loss, such as a fire or other catastrophe, that forces temporary closure. Business Income coverage typically pays for lost profits, rent, payroll, and other expenses to maintain the business, while Extra Expense coverage pays for additional costs needed to keep the business operational, such as renting a temporary location or equipment, enabling faster recovery.
